For obvious reasons, I've chosen to work under an assumed name. I chose "ZenKnee" (said like it sounds), which is actually my Japanese Grandfather's first name.

My name is Dave Cross, and I DJ under the name ZenKnee. I have been DJing for 5 years. The electronic music bug first hit me in college, when I was lent some trance CDs by my friends. Soon after, Moby came on tour, with an opening act called Hybrid. Seeing Hybrid perform inspired me to learn even more about electronic music, which led me towards DJing.

After a few years of practice, I was offered some gigs, mostly Cornell University-sponsored events and house parties. It was around this same time that I met Martin Roth, a drum & bass DJ. He introduced me to two more local DJs, and together, we formed a DJ crew called 704B productions. 704B had a great run for about 2 years. In that time, we held multiple parties, plus a residency at a cozy little place called the Lost Dog Lounge.

In June of 2004, I moved to Nashville. I held a monthly residency with a production group, and played various gigs with a number of great headlining and local DJs.

In June of 2006, I moved to New York City to work at a music software company called Ableton.

I play many different kinds of music. Though my initial loves were trance and breakbeat, I've found a lot of enjoyment in House music. I would suggest listening to my mixes to get an idea of what I play, as I don't like to pigeonhole myself into specific genres.
