PJs

Minus a few exceptions (ie: me), DJs tend to be well-dressed folk. They're usually clubbing veterans, and they take their nighttime apparel seriously. Upon completing this mix, I realized that I conceptualized and mixed this entire thing in my pajamas. The fact struck me as mildly amusing, so I decided to dedicate this mix to the too-crappy-to-go-out-with section of my dresser drawer.

If all dance music can be categorized on the spectrum between Earthy (ie: natural instruments and vocalization) and Techy (synthesized intrumentation and vocals), than "PJs" sits on the edge of my personal Techy tolerance level. This is as Trance-y/Prog-y/Techno-y as I can get.

The last track is far from a traditional dance number, but it's one of my faves. The song also offered me the opportunity to try a very subtle mixing method I learned from Danny Howells' 24:7 compilation - melding individual sounds (as opposed to beat/key structures) to move from track to track.

Don't Gotta Pray for Me

The name comes from my misunderstanding of the vocals in track 6. I thought they we're saying "Don't Gotta Pray for Me" when in fact they were saying "You Can Make me Fly." This is easy to hear on the original mix, which just happens to be track 1.

I still really enjoy this mix - it moves from completely different sub-genres of House music within the confines of a CD-length DJ mix.
